Congratulations for deciding to take French. It has been demonstrated in study after study that taking a course in the same foreign language for three or more years significantly impacts SAT scores. What you may not have heard is that studies have futher hypothesized that foreign language study, by virtue of analyzing the structure of a language, makes you a better writer and speaker of English, which of course will positively impact your GPA. Other studies have even demonstrated that those who speak two languages have increased cognitive function-- in other words, it makes you SMARTER!
Lastly, I have located a document detailing the results of a study, done at a small private school in Maryland, which found that the FRENCH students far outperformed those of other foreign languages on their SATs. Check it out here: Goucher Study It supports the contention I have always maintained:
