New York Update -

As of today, only 9 students have paid in full.  We have already paid all the bills-$21000 + for you all to attend.  Please turn in your $$$ asap.  $259.20.

You will need a professional dress outfit for one of the days.  There is a special entrepreneurship program given for week 1 attendees. Pictures will be used for this program--professional dress required. Ties for boys! More professional than cute for girls!

We have added two need items to our agenda--visiting Sony's Wonder Lab and a Wholesale Fabric business in the Fashion District!

Manditory meeting for NEW YORK next WEDNESDAY the 28th at 3:30 to 4:30!

Meeting November 4th were going to watch elf and have icecream 3:30 to get everyone excited for NEW YORK!!!!!!

one thing we need to talk about is the haunted house, we are planning on going to the haunted house tomorrow after the barnes and noble thing, if 15 or more people go its $14 for one house and $18 for two houses and if 12 or more go its $16 for one house and $20 for two!

dont forget to go to barnes and noble and buy goodies and books, and stay for the NEW MOON trivia and dramas open mic night, its going to be a blast!

2nd NY Payment was due last week: $250.00. Oct 30 owe $209.20 for airfare and by Nov 10 $50 for chaperone expenses.

Mandatory NY meeting on Wednesday, Oct 28th 3:30 (right after reg meeting) we will watch Elf and eat ice cream too!! Meeting 3:30 until 5:30!!

Turn in all ticket money by next Tuesday for fundraiser!

Social Time with DECA:

Barnes and Nobel Book Fair 6:30 until 8:30. We need volunteers--should be NY people. All NY should bring baked goods for bake sale. Be there by 6:00.  We meet at Varisty for dinner at 8:30 and then go to haunted house by the mall!!

DECA Fall Leadership Conference

Last call! $65 payable to Kell High School must be paid by 8:25 a.m. on October 1st.

Need students to bring items to the Homecoming Bake Sale to be held outside the gates from 6-7:30. We need student workers and student workers for the Bull Pen.

Children's Healthcare Fall Leadership Charity-Help us raise money for Children's. Pick up a cup from Ms. Kovachi. Collect change. Turn your change in by the end of each day. Turn in to Ms. Kovachi or Coach Penny.

2nd NY payment due of $250.00 for hotel expenses.

Great News! Airfare has been booked costing only $209.20 due by October 30th.

Beach Vacation Drawing fundraiser-get tickets from Ms. Kovachi. 100% proceeds go to your trips/activities.  Sell for $3 each or 2 for $5.  Chance to win two beach vacations. 

Bookfare-Barnes & Noble on October 22nd from 6 until 8:00. DECA will host a bake sale and hold some fun contests! Halloween Theme! We need some unique marketing ideas!

DECA DUES

DECA dues are due Thursday September 10th, the braves fieldtrip money is also due on the same day, so if you want a DECA shirt you need to have your money to us by then. ALSO WE ARE ONLY HAVING WHITE SHIRTS! NO BLACK SO YOU EITHER WEAR IT WHITE OR TYE-DIE IT!!!!!!!!

DECA DATE NIGHT  is Thursday September 24th, it will start at 5 o'clock, you can stay after school in Mrs. Kovachi's room after school if you cant get a ride home and then back to the school, also we are going to be dying our deca shirts out in the bus parking lot to start off the phone of deca date night, then we will come back in to Ms. Kovachi's room for the dinner and a movie, we will vote for the movie at one of our meetings, we already have some in mind so dont try to get any ideas. Ifyou bring a friend to the DECA date night we have a little treat just for you, so please bring a friend to the date night!

DECA 2009 - Live, Learn, Lead...Kentucky Nationals here we come!

Hi fellow DECAns,

Thanks for meeting today. I'm sorry I'm not here--had an unexpected situation that required my assistance.  You are in good hands with Forbes and Penny.  Get ready for an exciting year!...

Penny-please turn on the 5 minute recruitment video.  Guys we have our goals set on attending the Kentucky Derby and DECA Nationals in April. Let's work really hard and make it happen.

Everyone sign in and check which of the following items interest you for this year. Please only mark if you are seriously considering it...I need it for planning purposes.

Dues are $20, need asap. Includes local, state and national registration. T-shirt, pin and magazine 4x this year!!

Business of Baseball-Sept 28th: we will leave school at 3:00 and take the big cheese down to Turner field. from 4:30 until 5:30 you will meet executives from the Braves organization. It is a great opportunity to find out about careers in sports marketing.  We will stay for the game against the Marlins and leave aroun 9:00. Cost will be $30 but includes a lower level ticket, transportation, $10 concession credit, Braves hat!!  

Fall Leadership Conference-Oct 15th and 16th: Thurs afternoon and evening and return to school sometime Friday afternoon.  We will stay overnight-held some place down town-TBA.  Cost will be about $50 for registration, food. We can try and fundraise for hotel. 

 

New York Conference: November 18-22nd (the week leading into Thanksgiving).  Cost approx. $700 which includes hotel, airfare, registration/workshop.  First deposit of $250. due by Sept 18th.  Second payment of $250 by Oct 1st. Check out www.deca.org for more information.  Each student must also fundraise or pay $50 towards general DECA expenses and chaperone expenses.

Please sign the "leadership interest" sheet.  Please only sign if you are willing to put the time into DECA-this would require meeting each Monday afterschool with me to plan the week, working in Bull Pen at least one morning a week, attending events, competing and being invovled. Please put together an "officer" team to run for election. This will include Pres, 2 VP (at least underclassman).
