Breadth Update

We are more than halfway to completing the Breadth section of our portfolio. Currently in class, you should be completing either your Wire Wrapped Pottery or your Stone Carving. Your next sketchbook is due 1/14. You are to create a mobile or movable art piece.

Prehistoric Art and Line

 

Our first unit covers the Element of line and Prehistoric art. We will see how the earliest artists used line in the cave paintings and as a class we will learn contour line drawing. Using a graphic organizer we will take notes in class on four examples of Prehistoric art. Our quiz covering Prehistoric art will be Friday, January 14th.

We are creating a collage using the contour line drawings of each other that we have been working on in class. Our sketchbook drawing of a shoe using contour and blind contour is due January 11th. Make sure to turn in all sketchbook assignments on time to avoid late grades!!!!

Elements and Principles of Art

We started off the class this week with an intro into the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. These vocabulary words really are the nuts and bolts of art and the fundamentals for everything we will be doing in class. Each student was given a worksheet with all of the words and definitions. Here is the presentation in case you missed it in class or would like to review.

Concentration #8

We are well on our way to completing our portfolios! You should all be very proud of your work thus far and get ready to bring it all together.

We are starting Concentration #8 this week (if you didn't already over the break!) We will have a critique on 1/11. Remember that your next project profile is due this day too! Concentration #8 is due 1/18 when we get back from the MLK holiday. So you get an extra day! Hooray!
