Beyond the European Tradition Essay

Over the Thanksgiving break, you will have a long essay dealing with art beyond the European tradition to complete. This essay question is from a previous AP Art History Exam. The long essay section of the AP exam contains two essays that you are given one hour to answer. I know you will be using your books to prepare your answer for this essay, but try to stay within the same time requirement. You should not work on this assignment for over an hour!!!

The grade for this long essay will replace your lowest test grade. It is NOT optional!!! All essays must be turned in Monday, November 28th.

Early Renaissance Art

  
 We will start the unit on 15th century Early Renaissance Tuesday, November 15th. We will discuss the Renaissance outside of Italy (Northern) as well as the Italian Renaissance. Your study guide and 15 Q cards are due Wednesday, November 30th. Your test will be Friday, December 2nd.

Portrait Printmaking

We are currently working on an in depth self portrait project. Using a grid, students will first draw their self portrait. After the drawing is complete, students will block in the different value areas using lines. These value areas will then be shaded.The result will be a very graphic look, like the Andy Warhol print above. When the drawing is complete, we will then do a linoleum carving of the portrait and print in black and color ink.

Beyond the European Tradition Group Project

We have been working hard in class on your group projects. All sections of the project are to be emailed to me at laura.laquaglia@cobbk12.org by 3:30 pm on Tuesday, November 8th. Presentations will begin on Wednesday, November 9th.
