Advanced Web Design 1st Six Weeks 2011

The 1st Six Week of the 4A students and the Block students will explore and apply each standard within  Units 2  - 4 by using Web Expression 4.0 by Microsoft.  

Assignments will be project driven and independent.  Projects and due dates will be announced.

Students must learn this software program and each student will create a manual with notes, tips, and strategies to be used in learning its use.

Unit 2:  PLANNING, DESIGNING, IMPLEMENTATION, & EVALUATION 

BCS-AWD-3. Students will demonstrate an understanding of project management, phases, the use of teams, and portfolios in web development. BCS-AWD-4. Students will demonstrate the ability to evaluate and develop a site’s aesthetic qualities.  BCS-AWD-5. Students will examine and apply website testing, publishing, and maintenance concepts.

 Unit 3:  DIGITAL MEDIA ON THE WEB

 BCS-AWD-6. Students will demonstrate the effective use of multimedia.  

Unit 4:  ADVANCED LAYOUT FEATURES

 BCS-AWD-7. Students will explore advanced web page layout features and concepts. 

Computing in the Modern World 1st Six Weeks 2011

During the 1st  six weeks, students will continue to learn to write HTML code for creating web pages.  Students will learn the good and bad design of web sites.  Students will gain a greater understanding of the Internet and how to search for information.  Project:  A completed Web Page design by the student.

Students will also study Unit 5 - Problem Solving involving the steps in problem solving and problem solving strategies.

Unit 4:  Web Design/Internet Essentials

CT.BCS.CMW.12: Students will demonstrate the ability to search for information and evaluate search results.

CT.BCS.CMW.13: Students will examine Internet security issues and recognize the importance of working in a secure environment.

CT.BCS.CMW.14: Students will evaluate, compare, and contrast Web sites.

CT.BCS.CMW.15: Students will design and create a basic Web site.

CT.BCS.CMW.16 Students will discuss examples that identify the broad interdisciplinary utility of computers and algorithmic problem solving in the modern world.

CT.BCS.CMW.17 Students will apply strategies to solve various problems.

CT.BCS.CMW.18 Students will apply algorithmic thinking to solve problems.

CT.BCS.CMW.19 Students will demonstrate an understanding of the basic steps in algorithmic problem solving.
