Reminders for the Weekend
You ALL have homework!!!
Pre-AP - Remember we have been focusing an awful lot on several topics. Consider reviewing for your test which will be the week of the September 12th.
Honors Govt - We will complete our standards work and content overview on Monday. BE PREPARED for a test on Tuesday. YOU KNOW what is on it but do you know it?
AP World - Same as Honors GOVT. But do you KNOW it?

Welcome Back!!
Well students, welcome to or back to another fun filled year at Kell High School!
After some serious educational philosophical discussions, I have come to the conclusion that I am committed this year to making sure that my student LEARN more! That's right, learn. Has that not been happening in the past? Well, yes it has. However, this year, I want to get more students to the level of mastery and not simply putting them through the traditional hoops of learning and behavior modification. With this said, your role as a learner will be greater than in the past. You must TAKE ownership of your education. Check your excuses at the door! I don't care what people have said about your abilites based upon past performances. You start in my class tabula rasa (thanks John Locke). Infinite possibilite awaits you! You will be expected to learn for the sake of learning. You WILL complete assignments because they will build toward learning. You will get grades for assignments but you should hear me say the word "input" more frequently. I want to create "true inputs" that assess what I want you to know. You will know ahead of time what it important to know for your summative assessments. Prepare for those summative assessments every day. Because the "inputs" will be better, you and your parents will see FEWER grades in the grade book. Why...? Because getting a grade for coloring a map and defining terms does NOT show you learned something, it shows you can color and copy. Get it?
So...the adventure begins. Decide TODAY that you WILL Learn more!!
