My chief function is to serve as the testing coordinator. It is important to assess student knowledge and re-mediate to improve student achievement. In Georgia standardized testing is the measure of accountability for students, teachers, administrators, schools and school systems. Standardized testing is the tool that communities utilize to determine the success of their schools compared to other communities.
According to Cobb County School District, a good testing program provides the following benefits:
- Students receiving individual test scores will know the skills and knowledge mastered and how they compare to other students.
- Parents can evaluate whether their children are obtaining the skills and knowledge they need to be successful during and after their school experiences.
- Teachers can determine if students have mastered the skills and knowledge needed to advance to the next level and if not what skills and knowledge are weak and should be improved.
- Community members have a measuring stick to compare year to year improvement and to compare local student performance with performances of students in other locations.
