Monday 9/28/09:  Introduction to Applets (looked at Ch. 1-2 in book)  Took notes and created your first applet (just practice)

Wednesday, 9/30/09:  Notes on Applets with Mrs. Zullo, Assignment

Friday, 10/2/09:  Continue with applet assignments.

Week 8: Week of 9/28/09

The following is what we will be working on this week:

1. Real-world projects - top priority but you are still responsible for other work.  Make sure you have your face-to-face consultation with Mrs. Zullo on Thursday or Friday for a grade. MAKE SURE YOU START signing the DAILY LOG that will be kept at Mrs. Zullo's desk.  Everyone on a real-world project will do this daily - the last 30 minutes of class - NOT BEFORE.
2. Sun Travel Project:  Continue on this - these should be completed by Friday, 10/2/09.  On Friday, I will randomly choose five names out of a basket to present their projects for an extra 10 points on an assignment that is already in grade book.  If you don't need or don't want the points, you can pass.
3. Web Critique #4 - will be due Friday - print and place in tray.
4. On Monday, I will be assigning a new project to individuals and teams.  Throughout the week you will be researching and preparing on the individual topic that I provide to you.  All of these topics will be related to your role as a web designer and what the W3C requirements are.  Everyone should be ready to go by Tuesday.  I will be taking the first half of class and calling on teams to present.  THERE WILL BE A QUIZ on ALL of this information the following day we complete (hopefully Monday).
5. Once we have completed this, we will move into the following areas:  CSS, Javascript, and MAYBE Databases and the web (for fun)....

This week, we will be starting Unit 2:  Hardware and Software Components.  The pretest was given on 9/24/09.  If you were absent, please make arrangements with Mrs. Zullo to take this - it will not count against you!!!  We will be working on this unit for two weeks.  It is vital that you make good use of your time in class.

UNIT 2:  Hardware & Software Components

GPS: 

BCS-CMW-4:  Students will describe the major hardware and software components of a computer and their interactions.

BCS-CMW-5:  Students will compare and contrast computer features.

BCS-CMW-6:  Students will demonstrate an understanding of how numbers and characters are represented in a computer.

BCS-CMW-7:  Students will demonstrate an understanding of how pictures, sounds, and video are represented in a computer.

AGENDA:

Tuesday, 9/29/09 & Thursday, 10/1/09:

Review unit 1 Test if needed (may not be able to do this today if some still need to make it up) - All makeups must be completed by Wednesday.

Notebooks – review dividers (already graded on 9/24) - make sure YOU show me at end of class prior to leaving (Dividers should be: Agendas – Notes – Tests – Other or Misc.)  When notebook is opened up, BEFORE the first divider should be the class syllabus and behind that should be the standards for our class.
